I know I haven't wrote in a while - it really doesn't matter since I have no followers - and I'm hoping to change that in the near future. I'm working on finding time to blog everyday. I have a lot that I want to be involved in, and that should give me plenty to write about. The only problem is finding time! Additionally, dealing with my fibromyalgia is a daily hurdle, and the time I have remaining is limited. SO, I'm not getting everything done in any given day that I would like. Trying to do too much - yep, that's me. But, I just feel like I wasted so many years, and I don't want to waste anymore, dammit!

So, anyway, Happy Independence Day! Go out and celebrate your independence!

My Independence Day

So, I’m finishing up a four-day weekend, thanks to the holiday. And I have to say that it wasn’t so bad – even with the PMS. I watched a thing on History on Saturday about the War of 1812 that really helped to complete something inside of me that has been mostly untapped. Like most people, I didn’t know a lot about this war. I am mostly familiar with WWI, WWII, and Vietnam due to sharing an interest in American wars with my dad and watching the History Channel with him. Anyway, this 2-hour show was very educational and interesting to say the least. The War of 1812 was our country’s second war with Great Britain for our independence. It was filled with heroes and helped further cement our patriotism. Not to mention the Battle at Fort McHenry being the inspiration for our National Anthem. This was one of the amazing things that I learned from watching this show. Francis Scott Key literally watched from a truce vessel offshore as the battle went on through the night. Then, in the morning, he was greeted by the sight of our flag signifying our victory. He was so inspired, he wrote the poem then and there. Most of you may remember facts like that one about this war from school. I’m sure I learned all about it in school, as well. But, thanks to memory problems (more about that in another post), sadly, I’ve forgotten most of it.

Anyway, it was an okay weekend. I got several things accomplished – little things – but still things that needed to be done. Mom’s coming in 10 days and I would like the place to be presentable.

Well, it’s bedtime for me now. Look for more posts from me in the future. I have a ton of crap in the brain to clear out and I think it’s only fair that I share it all with you… my non-existent readers, since I’m sure not a soul reads this. But that's alright, because I know it’s there and I can read it. After all, that’s what matters most. :)

Olive's mommy broke her ankle early this year and Jason wasn't able to come to work for a while because he was needed at home to take care of both Shannon and Olive. But, after Shannon was able to get around a bit, Jason would bring Olive to work for a few hours. Here he is feeding her some lunch. She just absolutely adores her daddy! And, believe me, it is most certainly vice versa!

Morning to those few who grace me with your readership! No, the cutie below is not me. That is my little sister at about age 2. She already had a little attitude thing going, huh? lol

And, then, here we are at her graduation from Appalachian College in '03. I was crying.

And, this is 2005, at our cousin's wedding.

And, finally, at her wedding in April, 2007.

F#@k it. You know, my whole life I have been a people-pleaser and I recently realized, OMG, I am even doing that lame-ass shit on the internet! My layout has been pretty and nice and pleasant. Well, I hate pleasant. Always have. I think it's Stepford-y. And, to be quite honest, I am sick of most things in life, but, I pretend. Those closest to me will not be surprised by any of this, only in the fact that I am being so openly honest about it. Thank you, Adam & Sara. You have always encouraged me to speak my mind and, now, I am finally making a conscience decision to do so. And, even though you would say that I do already, well... I still hold a lot in, don't I, Adam? Nothing changes overnight, so tune back in for more eruptions! Hahahahahaha......... (evil laugh)

Okay, so every day I take a 3 hour nap because I have no energy due to the fibromyalgia. Well, today we're celebrating Dad's birthday down at their house around late afternoon/dinnertime. So, this morning, I'm talking to Mom on the phone (who by the way was at the office AGAIN) and she asks if I'm going to be able to come down tonight. Well, I know she only asked because I did not go down to their Labor Day cookout, but, come on, it's Dad's birthday! So, I tell her that yes, I will there because I don't think Dad would forgive me if I wasn't. So, THEN she says, "Well, I was just asking because maybe you should take your nap early then." DUH!!! I asked her, "Mom, how dumb do you think I am?" I swear... I know it seems like a perfectly innocent "reminder" (the term she uses), but she does that crap ALL THE TIME! I am 37, for God's sake!!!! Talk about over-protective. Geesh.

Kitten Munchkin

This is Kitten Munchkin and me. She was found in the median of I-77 in NC back in late December by the husband of a friend of mine. She was approximately 6 months old at the time of her rescue. My friend works at the vet that I go to and that's how I came to find Kitten Munchkin. She and I met in late February and I decided to bring her home overnight for a test. Well, she never went back to the vet. Since we didn't know her birthday, I gave her one. Little Miss Independent now has July 4th as her birthday. And she is independent, let me tell ya! But, she is very sweet, loving and playful and I can't imagine life without her! She was definitely sent to me by My Frankie, who I lost on December 13th to a heart attack.

I always have a lot of plans, but somehow cannot put them into action alone. I either need help that's not readily available for the duration of said plan, or I do not have enough energy to start new things.

I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and, until now, have not written about it. I did not know how I felt. I still don't. Enough for now on that.

I have to admit, I didn't think I could become more addicted to the Internet than I already was. But, I just keep finding new stuff that I am drawn to! It makes me wonder if it will ever stop? I mean the Internet... 20, 30 years down the road... what will it look like? Will we access the World Wide Web the same way? Is the ultimate ending going to be chips implanted so we can have a constant virtual world we have the option to live in? Something like... we wake up, go to the kitchen and get coffee, sit at the table, turn on our virtual "viewer" and access everything by voice command. Will we become the computer? I'll tell ya, if what I'm doing now becomes "retro" and "old-fashioned", then I am perfectly fine with that. Or, it could go the other way... someone will "discover" that you don't need remotes to turn things on and off, or change channels, you can simply press a button or turn a knob. That will become the latest scream! lol Can you imagine? Technology self-destructs, 2 or 3 generations from now re-discover tv and radio and it's a whole new world!! Hmmm....

How do I describe myself? I don't even know. I know what I like and what I don't, that's about it. Let's see...

10 things I cannot live without:
1. my computers - yes, plural - I have three - Dell Inspiron E1705 running Vista, 2006 Imac, and an old Gateway that I have installed Ubuntu on (still getting to know Linux)
2. my furbabies - I have 2 dogs and 2 cats. They are my kids. I actually like animals better than people. Sue me.
3. my Tivo - if I don't have Tivo, then you might as well take away the tv, too. Commercials make me sick.
4. my sister - she's 9 years younger and I practically raised her... she's everything I'm not and vice versa. :P
5. air conditioning - hormones... need I say more?
6. my make-up - I sell Mary Kay off and on, have for 12 years. Even if I go through periods where I don't wear any, I still wouldn't give it up!
7. some DVDS - I have favorite TV shows that I collect and burn to DVD.
8. peace and quiet
9. pizza
10. COFFEE (these were NOT listed by any particular order!)

10 weird things about me:
1. I have OCD and wash my hands about 30-40 times a day.
2. I'm agoraphobic, but long to down-size, move into an RV and travel around the country.
3. I hate the heat, but love the beach and love to swim outdoors (indoor pools are pretty useless).
4. I don't like for anyone to touch anything in my house. If someone touches something, I will consider it to be "dirty" and clean it when the leave.
5. If someone moves things in my house, I will move it back immediately.
6. I have the ability to memorize phone numbers and rarely use the address book in my cell phone or anywhere else.
7. I read every Harry Potter book in only a day for each one - morning to night.
8. I have a brown thumb and will kill any plant or flower left in my care.
9. I have a fetish for office supplies, ie: paper, markers, pens, pencils, notepads, etc.
10. I wrote this About Me in Notepad to standardize it for all my profiles on the Web!
